since the 1850s and contains a monument to the BaRolong who died in action during the Mafikeng Siege.
Dr Modiri Molema’s home and surgery
Dr Modiri Molema (1891-1965) was the son of Silas Molema. He qualified at Glasgow University in Scotland and practised in Mafikeng. He wrote extensively on the BaRolong Boora-Tshidi and the BaRolong Boora-Tshidi Seleka.
World Centre for Science and Environment of the Scout Movement
Located on the border of the Mafikeng Game Reserve, this international centre provides skills and leadership training and team-building for local and international students.
Mafikeng Game Reserve
This 4 600-hectare game reserve is home to a wide variety of wild animals and is regarded as a principal breeding park for the white rhinoceros.
Lotlamoreng Cultural Reserve
Located to the south of Mafikeng is a cultural village that provides tourist activities in the form
of fishing, swimming and a demarcated waterfowl sanctuary.
Modimola and Disaneng dams
Modimola Dam is the perfect location for recreational angling and weekend picnics.

To increase the percentage of households with access to free basic water and to increase the number of household provided with access to basic sanitation.

To develop an integrated stormwater masterplan as well as an integrated roads and stormwater maintenance plan

To develop a housing sector plan and facilitate the provision of social and low-cost houses in line with the Integrated Development Plan

To promote local economic development, tourism and rural development by capacitating SMMEs in business

To facilitate the provision of electricity to all Mafikeng communities by increasing electricity supply to rural areas, ensuring streetlights are maintained and increasing the number of high-mast lights in rural areas
